Commissions

Testimonials below.

I accept commissions in any medium or to any scale (including public commissions and fountains) and in fact I love the challenge of understanding the particular needs or visions of a client, no matter how vague or indeed, how precise.

Apart from commissions in painting, sculpture and drawing I have also done CD covers and 3D Cartoon Characters.

Amongst my clients is an international interior designer, collectors, an international multi-media publisher, a TV producer, and professionals, including doctors and businessmen.

I love to challenge my versatility. In sculpture, I have worked with a variety of materials, subjects and on different scales. I have experience with smallest bronzes up to life size figures, figurative or abstract projects involving earth, water, light, granite, wood/trees, terracotta and other materials. I am able to take on projects as large as monuments or fountains, since I have the knowledge and experience of my former Professor Schmettau, University of Fine Art Berlin, to draw on at any time, who has completed many major projects of that scale (including main, centre of Berlin Fountain) in several countries.

In painting, I tend to produce large paintings in a variety of styles and approaches.

I have worked with several other methods and techniques beyond my two major subjects of sculpture and painting.

Commission Testimonial

“Dear Babette,
I'm really very pleased that you're enthused by the painting. I have no idea why things do or don't work visually. I respond to pictures - but mostly don't know why (I really have no aptitude for creating them)... But, from seeing the representations of your work on your website, I do know that I trust your judgement - and I'm sure I shall feel the same way about this painting when I see it at first hand. The (progress) photos you have sent are great - but I also know that I shall really have to see the original to have the full experience. Photos are not the same as originals and I'm looking forward to seeing the real thing...”

“ importantly, thank you for your work. I am genuinely delighted by the end product and feel that I have been very fortunate to have the painting done by yourself rather than settling for something at all run of the mill or ordinary... :-) :-)

I feel very honoured by all the work and dedication you've put into it and am very glad to have waited until you were happy with it.

I think I shall put it in the living room after all. It is going to be a very special possession... so there's every reason why it should be very prominently on view. It seems like it should have pride of place in my home. I very much liked, and empathise with, the things you had to say about the figure being "at peace" in contrast with the seeming turmoil of the surrounding sheets... It's something which was not very evident in the original image but which your eye has unerringly spotted...

I rather like the effect of your framing and may well keep it exactly as it is...

Anyway, thank you again, and best wishes...”

“Forgive me for raving on about the painting - but I am hugely pleased with it.

I'm just looking at it in the different low-angled and warmer light of the evening. It looks hugely richly saturated in terms of colour. And the drawing of the figure suddenly looks hugely "sculptural" (which is perhaps no surprise in view of your other work). But the shapes stand out in an almost 3D manner...

Anyway, the more I look at it, the more I enjoy it. And I want you to know that you have one very satisfied client...

It is truly a pleasure to see... Thank you - very much.”

“Dear Babette

I just keep looking at your painting and feeling absolutely amazed by it...

It is so very, very skilfully executed - more so than I can express... I love the "mass" and "physicality" of it - it really makes me feel like there's a "reality" to it that I hadn't imagined . You have somehow made it feel like so much more than something beyond a mere depiction.

And I am already regretting that I didn't say yes to you using an even larger canvas... Seeing the large paintings on the walls of your home made me realise that such large images are not "overwhelming" (as I had assumed). But they are truly arresting and create a terrific mood...

Anyway, I love your commissioned painting and am truly very happy with it... it seems to have such a lot of different things in it which it will keep revealing...

However, if you would like to do something for me on the scale of the pictures on your living room wall, well tell me... There is a stunning quality about such large images.. I rather think I would like to have something on that scale... “

“You'll be delighted to know that my partner was surprised, amused and genuinely delighted by the painting. She is considerably younger than me and (though I didn't explain it to her in these terms) it is something she will be able to have and keep when mortality catches up with me - which greatly pleases me. But she genuinely loves it - and she too loved the "at peace" aspect of it...”

“Just thought I'd report back that everyone who has seen your painting (and it is prominently displayed) has been knocked out by it.

There has of course been a certain amount of surprise about the subject matter being me (!) - but, once over that, literally everyone has expressed pleasure and appreciation about the execution of the painting.

It has created huge enjoyment and pleasure amongst my friends. And I'm utterly delighted by it.

The whole experience of being painted by you was so much fun that it's hard to describe. It was a really life-enhancing thing to have done. And it's a bit sad that people don't commission more paintings. We should. They are important... “

“Your painting remains hung prominently on my wall - it's the most striking object in my home and I love it very, very much.”
